Mary King workshop - 16 October 2004

Mary's style and enthusiasm were well know to most of the participants of the workshop through her reputation in the choral scene and her recent national television exposure in the Operatunity series of programmes.

The three hour workshop passed quickly as we were put through various warm up exercises, diction improvement, breathing exercises and assessment of technical skills. This was achieved in a light hearted manner requiring much face pulling and production of unusual noises by the participants!!

Mary was assisted by Ray Jones (SOCS Music Director - pictured with Mary) who conducted the 100 participants, drawn from many local and not so local choirs.

Mary concluded the workshop with some insight into a new TV series entitled Musicality (currently being screened at the time of writing this) which takes unknown singers/dancers and selects and grooms them for a one-off performance in a major London West End musical. Mary's on-screen presence is no different to what we experienced first hand.

This was an exceptional opportunity for us all and we all gained something from this stimulating and entertaining afternoon.
